The Robot Rooster
Who Is He?
Scratch is a robot built by Dr. Robotnik, along with his fraternal twin brother, Grounder, to capture and / or destroy Sonic the Hedgehog. Unfortunately, he's not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer, and he often falls for Sonic's tricks and disguises. He isn't the kind of guy to stick a fork in a light socket to see what happens, though (that's Grounder's department). He's more like the kind of guy who'll snatch the fork away, only to absently stick it into the socket as he's telling the guy off. Scratch has great potential to be smart, but he often ends up doing stupid things.
Why Do I Love Him?
I have this thing for tall, skinny guys. I also have a thing for robots. And roosters make hot cartoon characters. >;) Scratch's design positively oozes sex appeal. (Unlike Grounder, who is very dumpy in appearance. Not to say Grounder isn't cute, though. He has his moments!) Physical aspects aside, I find Scratch attractive in the fact that he's quite naive and helpless, which often shows when he falls for Sonic's tricks or goes crying to Dr. Robotnik. He tries to cover this up with a bad-boy attitude, partly due to his ego and partly because that's how Robotnik designed him. Unfortunately, his childishly clumsy manner - stemming from the fact that he is, in fact, quite young despite his adult appearance - often trips him up, making him incredibly funny to watch. He is so unique a character for a bumbling evil henchman, it is no surprise that he is considered a favorite among AOSTH fans. And let's not forget that laugh: "BUH-HA-HAHA!" It starts out sounding like a chicken's cluck and ends as something unique. I love that laugh.
My History With Him
When I was young, I used to watch AOSTH weekday mornings before I went to school. I always preferred the villains - Robotnik, Scratch, Grounder, and Coconuts - over Sonic and Tails, mainly because they were funnier to watch... and I felt kind of sorry for them whenever Sonic defeated him. I mean, Sonic just didn't feel like a hero to me in that show-- he felt more like an egotistical, pompous ass. At the time, I strongly felt that the show should have been called "The Dr. Robotnik Show." Robotnik and his badniks got way more screentime than the Blue Blur, and the writers delved more into the lives of the villains, anyhow. Even back then I had a thing for Scratch... not a full-blown crush, but I did have a soft spot for him. He and Grounder made me laugh... and they still do!
In a Nutshell...
Scratch looks hot, acts bad, but is really oh-so-innocent. Any femme 'bot on Mobius would be lucky have him. Come to think of it... Breezie! Dump Robotnik Jr. and get yourself some chicken tonight! XD
Luv-O-Meter
Four hedgehog traps out of five - this chicken's so hot he's spicy, babeh!
